About our Spanish Teahcers
Carolina Machado
I was born in Caracas, Venezuela in 1979. I grew up in a big family surrounded by cousins and friends. Since early childhood both sides of my family have been connected to the field education. My grandfather is an economist. He loves to write books in which he teaches young adults difficult economic terms in the simplest of ways. My aunt studied elementary education and later did a master in administration. She started up a kindergarten that has been running now for over 15 years. My sister studied education and is now teaching children in Florida. I went into engineering, and I’m looking forward to doing a master in education so that I can teach college children math and physics.
Since I was 14 years old, my aunt encouraged me to work in her school’s summer programs. My interest in teaching was inspired by the endless energy and the incredible creativity children have. Working with them brought feeling of happiness and fulfillment while accomplishing the difficult task of making a 4 year old cleanup after him-self.
As a teenager I had the opportunity to live in Switzerland for a year. There I studied French, German and business. This exposure to different backgrounds defined my life. I became very much attached to my own traditions through sharing with various cultures from around the world.
Few years later, now married, with a son and expecting. I’ve found my best teacher to be my son. With a great deal of patient and tons of imagination, we have managed to bring into our house traditions from both my home country and America. Aux Trois Pommes has allowed me to pursue my dream of teaching children, while giving me the chance to show them just how rich in culture the world outside the US can be. I welcome you and your family to share with us this exiting new experience.
