About our Mandarin Teachers:

Ren Tong

My name is Ren Tong.  I was born in the year of the Monkey.  Based on Chinese mythology, the Monday King traveled far West to discover the true meaning of life.  I see the story as a reflection of my own life.  I, like the Monkey King, traveled far West, from mainland China to the U.S.

Since my youth, under the influence of my mother, (a Chinese literature teacher), I always felt that a teacher is such an honorable and well respected profession.  I'm proud to have followed in her path.

I speak "PUTONG HUA" (Mandarin Chinese) and have taught students from various backgrounds including young children, high school students and adults for many years.  Currently, I'm the Chinese language instructor at Middlesex and Tunxis Community Colleges.

Teaching Chinese language and culture has become a very rewarding part of my life.  In addition to teaching, I love music, art and history.  I'm also an aspiring filmmaker.

Now we see the world is flat.  I'm glad to have the opportunity to display the history and culture of my ethnicity.  I hope my work bridges the gap between East and West.
