| About our Spanish/Portuguese Teacher:
Marilyn Sarria
I was born in Cuba. At the age of 23, I recieved a bachelor's degree in science of economics from Las Villas University in Cuba. As part of my degree program, I also spent time doing student teaching.
In 1995 my husband and I moved to Brazil where I continued my studies for a Master degree on Science in Production Engineering at Sao Paulo University in Brazil. I began to work as a Spanish Professor and Coordinator on Spanish language courses for Administration and Tourism Majors. I aslo taught classes in Foreign Language Schools in Brazil. I have over fifteen years of experience teaching Spanish and Portugese to both adults and children. Eight years later my family and I had the opportunity to come to the United States.
We moved to Cheshire CT in 2003. at the time, I worked mostly as a private tutor. Since the short time that I have been living here, I had the privilege to work in different schools and programs. Some of them are Pupil Enrichment Program (PEP) at Dodd Middle School, Aux Trois Pommes and Easter Seals Head Start.
I'm very glad to be a teacher at Aux Trois Pommes, a school that made a change in the childrens' lives. A goal that I want to reach at Aux Trois Pommes is to plant a small seed in the hearts of each child that wants to learn other languages such as Spanish. I will be giving them all the tools they need to help that seed grow becoming a strong tree full of knowledge about my Hispanic culture and also Brazil. I know I will do this with all the enthusiasm, happiness, creativity and responsability that characterize me.
