About our Spanish/French Teacher
Marianne Serret-Birkenfeld
Bonjour!
I was born and grew up in Valence in the south-east of France.
After I received a Masters Degree in Economics and Foreign languages from the University of Grenoble in 1998, I moved to Berlin in Germany. During my time there I worked at several companies in the economic field and started to teach French to the employees of an IT company simultaneously. Because I have enjoyed teaching my mother tongue so much, I decided to make it my profession. I went back to school and received a Degree in Language Sciences with a focus on French as a Foreign Language from the University Stendhal of Grenoble. I taught French in Berlin for six years working with adults as well as children in language schools, several companies and also at the European Patent Office. Moreover, I was a member of the committee at my two children's preschool where we created a bilingual concept (German-French). My children are receiving a bilingual education at home and are currently learning English at school.
We moved to New Haven last summer (2007). I am happy to have joined the international and multicultural Aux 3 Pommes team and to have the opportunity to share my passion for languages with enthusiastic and motivated teachers and students. I am lucky to teach both children and adults, which makes my job very diversified. Every student is different, has his/her own goals and interests and I love to adapt my style of teaching to each of them, which is made possible by the small group settings at Aux 3 Pommes.
A bientôt!
Marianne
